Torun Trainee's Work in Swindon / 12.2004

During October to December 2004, a group of seven trainees from Torun stayed with families in Swindon and worked for a number of local companies, including RWE N Power, the Royal Mail, Swindon Borough Council, Tyco Electronics and British Computer Society.

The trip was initiated by Torun Electricity Company (Zaklad Energetyczny w Toruniu) who partnered with Swindon Borough Council for successful application for funding from the European Union Leonardo da Vinci money. The project focus is on project management methodology Prince2, a standard methodology used by large enterprises, in addition, the group were able to brush up their language skills, establish business contacts and meet with the Mayor (photo attached).

A second group of trainees will arrive in Swindon as part of the project during February.

Thanks to the article, The Polish English Foundation established by International House contacted Rubber Dragon to discuss possible areas of cooperation.

Romuald Poslednik, Director at International House said, "as well as teach english, we also want to promote Britain and British culture. The Foundation is keen to develop links with Swindon to bring our communities closer together." Amongst the ideas is the organisation of a charity marathon, and learning exchanges.

Chris Bulzacki, Director at Rubber Dragon Limited from Swindon, meets regularly with the Swindon Torun Group in Swindon and hopes to discuss some of the new ideas in February.

First Economic Cooperation Agreement Signed

Rubber Dragon Limited from Swindon has signed cooperation agreements with both MFK s.c. and Kruk Multimedia from Torun.
The agreements will expand Rubber Dragon's portfolio of services, will increase capacity, and open up opportunities for supplying design services in Poland.
MFK headed by Grzegorz Kopcewicz, offer server maintenance, networking & programming solutions, they also produce a music tv show, and own an online music property.
Kruk Multimedia, owned by Ryszard Kruk specialises in film production and multimedia presentations, the company recently produced and distributed a film about Toruń.

Business Exchange

A meeting and exchange of business leaders from Swindon and Toruń is being planned, to be held in Toruń August 2003, and in Swindon October 2003.

The aim of the meeting is to develop links, explore and develop areas of cooperation.
